Pulse is going real-time ...

After our last set of changes in february, we got a lot of good feedback. One of the common themes in the feedback was that bloggers were observing a fair bit of delay from the time they posted an article on their blog, to the time it appeared on the corresponding 'pulse' page on Wowzio. And in some cases, they would not see their blog post on the corr. 'pulse' page even after a day.

We decided to tackle this problem, and after spending a fair bit of time working on it, are now ready to roll this new feature out. From the time we pick up your latest blog post in your updated rss feed, to the time that it appears on the corresponding set of 'pulse' pages, it is now in real-time. It will no longer take even a minute or two, it will happen right away. Thats right !

And we have also introduced an option where blog posts can be sorted by time, on 'pulse' pages. So if you don't see your post on the corresponding 'pulse' page (because it hasn't yet scored high enough to rank in the top posts for that topic), simply click over to the 'Sort on : Time' link, near the top. You should see your latest post, when the posts are sorted on time.

You can check out some sample pulse pages by clicking on the links below:

barack obama

We think this is really cool, because it will help distribute your posts ( and your thoughts & opinion ), to the world in real-time. Each 'pulse' topic is currently syndicated out via RSS, this RSS feed is now updating in real-time as well. We also have some thoughts on how we can make distributing a 'pulse' topic out easier, as well as help it get a bigger audience. Some of those features, we will try to roll out in the coming weeks.

We realize there is a missing link here, and that is the delay in you posting a new article on your blog, and we picking up your updated rss feed. Over the next few days, we will spend some time to try and come up with effective ways, so a blogger can achieve close to zero latency betn submiting a blog post, and it spreading over the web.

In the meantime, pl. continue to send us your feedback via our feedback form.
