Related Topics on Pulse

Pulse is a new product that we rolled out in alpha in mid December. Pulse is designed to showcase the most engaging and late-breaking articles around a given topic. To get some technical details about Pulse, please refer to how exactly we determine reader's engagement with a blog post.

We have spend a fair bit of time on Pulse since the alpha, and have quietly been rolling them out. Here is an enumerated list of some of the changes :
1. Pulse is now far more comprehensive. We now cover over a million topics.
2. From the time a blogger posts an article in their rss feed, to the time it appears on Pulse, is no more than 30 mins
3. The Pulse page load times have been made faster
4. Even as I write this post, we are in the middle of rolling out a "Related Topics" module. For a give topic, we will bubble up related, interesting and engaging topics in this module. This should appear on most Pulse pages within the next 24 hours.
5. We have made some changes to the Pulse ranking algorithm, to bubble up higher quality posts around each topic.

Wowzio Widgets by Invite

We have decided to let bloggers access to Wowzio widgets by invite. The primary motivating factor behind this decision was to make sure that our widget serving infrastructure is being used by good blogs and bloggers. To receive an invite, see the instructions at Wowzio's Widget Builder

We have been regularly investing and upgrading our platform and infrastructure. Currently, we are serving ~ 7M widgets/day. As we scale, we have had our share of hiccups over the past couple of months. In each case, we have been rapid in our response, and fixed the problem without slowing down the load times of your blog pages.

Also a quick update on Pulse. We have been working on improving the Pulse ranking algorithm as well as its refresh cycle. Some example Pulse pages are :
